The following is an interview conducted between Outland Collective (OC) and the featured artist in March 2012.
OC. Did you attend college? If so, where did you go?
SF. Yes, I graduated from California State University Long Beach with a BFA in Illustration.
OC. Where or what do you draw inspiration from?
SF. I draw inspiration from novels, mostly, and photography. Other artists are inspirations too… modern and classical… I love the Orientalists, the HudsonRiverSchool, the Pre-Raphaelites etc. I get a ton of inspiration from comic artists and contemporary illustrators.
OC. What projects are you working on currently? Where can we find it?
SF. The projects I’m currently working on at WB are all un-announced…which means I can’t talk about them without getting fired! The last shipped game I worked on was LOTR:WarInTheNorth.
OC. Is there a particular piece of artwork you are especially proud of?
SF. Back in 2008, I did a series of four illustrations based on the Seasons. I still like them because they are so different from what I usually do. Some of the art I made for WarIntheNorth was fun also. My favorite images are under a non-disclosure agreement with WarnerBrothers. By the time I can show them to anyone, they will be years old and I probably won’t like them anymore!
